Please join us on Tuesday, November 8th as AIA|LA VP/President-elect Stuart Magruder, AIA and AIA|LA Board member David Abel lead the second in a series of quarterly executive roundtables, which serve as key forums for the architecture profession to examine and debate critical issues impacting the built environment and the business of architecture & design.
The Net-Zero Energy Roundtable will present an opportunity to ask:
- Why do net-zero energy buildings matter?
- Why hasn't the production of net-zero energy buildings become more commonplace as a design standard?
- What are key technical difficulties with design and constructing net-zero energy buildings?
- Are the key obstacles to net-zero energy buildings regulatory or lack of client buy-in?
- Is Los Angeles and California ahead of the rest of the nation in net-zero energy building? Do we have an advantage pursuing net-zero as an aspect of the work we produce here?
- What is the key difference (if any) between 'net-zero' and 'carbon-neutral'?
- Are net-zero buildings even the best answer for a sustainable future?
The prime objective of the AIA|LA Executive Roundtables is to serve as a forum to vet critical issues. Where as the AIA|LA Board of Directors recognizes the need to take specific positions on critical issues, it also understands the value served to the community for simply providing the forum for critical discussion (and debate!) about issues that effect us all.
