International Architecture Lecture Series, presented by LACMA and AIA/LA hosts "Irish Architecture Now"
International Architecture Lecture Series, presented by LACMA and AIA/LA returns this fall with "Irish Architecture Now," held at LACMA's Bing Theater, the November 8, 2011 lecture will feature three prominent Irish architects as they discuss the state of Irish Architecture in contemporary Ireland.
International Architecture Lecture Series is an annual lecture series organized by the American Institute of Architects Los Angeles in partnership with LACMA's Education Department. "Irish Architecture Now," Ireland's first ever architectural showcase in the U.S., is part of Imagine Ireland, Culture Ireland's year of Irish arts in America in 2011.

The presenting architects:
Yvonne Farrell - Co-founder Grafton Architects in 1978. She is a Fellow of the RIAI, International Honorary Fellow of the RIBA and elected member of Aosdána. Grafton Architects were the first Irish Practice invited to show in the Italian Pavilion as part of the Venice Biennale Next in 2002, and at the Venice Biennale 2008. Grafton Architects were winners of both the World Building of the Year Award in 2008 and of the World Building Learning Category Award in 2008 for the Bocconi University project in Milan.
Sheila O'Donnell,RCA FRIAI RIBA, Hon FAIA - Set up O'Donnell + Tuomey with John Tuomey in. The practice has won many national and international awards for their buildings and their work has been widely published and exhibited in Europe, Japan and the USA. They represented Ireland in the Venice Architectural Biennale three times, including solo exhibition Transformation of an Institution in 2004. They recently completed two cultural buildings in Northern Ireland, An Gaeláras Irish Language Centre, Derry and the Lyric Theatre in Belfast.
Tom dePaor, director dePaor architects, FRIAI, B.Arch. (UCD) - has practiced as an architect since 1992, making both public and private buildings. dePaor architects were commissioned by the Department of Foreign Affairs to make the inaugural Irish Pavilion for the 2000 Venice Biennale and have since represented Ireland in the group shows at the 2006 and 2008 Venice Biennales. Tom dePaor co-curated the Irish Pavilion and was also invited by Kazuyo Sejima to make a pavilion in the International Show at the Venice Biennale in 2010.
