April 5, 2018—AIA|LA’s 2×8 Show to Feature an exhibition system by the collaborating team of Somewhere Something (Biayna Bogosian + Robbie Mehring) and Studio Hetanos (Armen Zeitounian).
The team was selected through a competition process and juried by the AIA|LA’S Board of Directors and its Academic Outreach Committee. Designers were asked to propose solutions for an outdoor display of up to 32 different design projects on a pedestrian street in the Helms Bakery District.
The name of the team’s winning entry is INTERLACED.
INTERLACED is a geometrical modular display system that allows for reproductivity and growth in urban spaces. INTERLACED utilizes novel fabrication techniques on readily available PVC pipes to form three types of spatial displays for the 2×8 exhibit: the triangle, the pentagon, and the heptagon. Each INTERLACED module also contains interwoven tension cables through the structure to allow for a suspended display of the exhibition work.
