Learn how the new Energy Code and Green Building Code impact your design. As the building industry changes architects and designers have to change with it. Building Codes mandate the minimum requirements for our projects with detailed language about specific design criteria that must be met. Moe Fakih, of VCA Green, will introduce the updates to the energy and green building code and provide you with a foundation for achieving code compliant, carbon neutral buildings. Attend this event and Learn about the new changes to Title 24 Part 6, California Energy Code, which includes a solar mandate for new low-rise buildings. Early design coordination will be impacted where building and/or roof orientation must be considered due to solar photovoltaic installation. Interior HVAC return elevations will be modified due to thicker filtration requirements. We’ll discuss these topics and others, so you can better navigate changing laws as California heads towards carbon neutrality.
Learning Objectives:
- Learn about the new code changes that impact new construction projects starting January 1, 2020 and what are California’s long term plans regarding carbon neutrality.
- Understand how to appropriately size mandatory solar requirements for new low-rise residential projects.
- How to communicate energy code changes with your clients/stakeholders, and how to offset costs by delivering enhanced energy models.
- How design coordination will be impacted as the State increasingly relies on third party verification for energy compliance.
