$10.00 – $20.00Science of Color: A Revolutionary and Evolutionary Approach to Color. By Gillian Rose in conversation with Frances Anderton
Learning Units: 1LU/HSW
This is a virtual event. Virtual meeting information will be email directly to registrants.
Color has a deep, physical and psychological effect on us, especially within the built environment. Color is impactful and critical to how people function in their spaces. Color responses are a part of our evolution, informed through our individual DNA. Color impacts our thoughts, feelings and actions, continually without so much as a thought. Presenter Gillian Rose, the founder of The Science of ColorTM will review and analyze psychological and physiological responses to color in conversation with Frances Anderton, the host of DnA Design and Architecture, a weekly show broadcast on KCRW.
Agenda:
We will explore how we explore color from a Neurological perspective. We will review step by step the 6 inter-related factors from the point in which color/light first enters our lens and all physical and emotional signals transmitted via our hypothalamus to our cerebral cortex.
We will discuss extroversion and introversion as it relates to our experience of color as it stimulates our cerebral cortex. Examining how particular colors affect our wellbeing and our physical and emotional health + safety.
We will explore how our responses to color are in our DNA and apart of our evolution. We will further explain how specific colors trigger our senses and inform us instinctively about our own safety, health & welfare.
Participants will be able to understand the components required for consideration in order to create a balanced humane environment. We will explore Programmatic solutions, in order to create environments, that will not cause undue ergonomic, physical or emotional harm.
Presenter: Gillian Rose
Gillian Rose, a graduate of Parsons School of Design, ran her own luxury Interior Design practice in New York City for 20 years. Before founding her color practice, The Science of Color in 2008, she studied the neuroscience of color with disciples of Dr. Heinrich Freiling. Dr. Freiling had established the 1st Institute of Color Psychology in Germany in the 1930s.
The science of color ™ began with a simple premise: that everyone has a desire to feel a specific way. Every person or every room may or may not be stylish, as defined by ‘architectural digest’, but every place expresses a sense of its inhabitants, most significantly defined by the colors they live within. Through compassion and appreciation, every client Gillian has colored with, was recommended via personal referrals. The science of colors, color clients and Gillian’s interior design practice, now make up a beautiful one-of-a-kind strand of colored pearls, connected by a connective string, creative minds recognizing other creative minds. In the process of spending thousands of mornings/afternoons, {daylight is required for color selection} with a diverse range of {artists, designers, writers, musicians, cowboys-financial or otherwise}, Gillian has discovered a rare form of portraiture more personal and intimate in some way, than even a journal or a complete re-design. Gillian, using her proprietary color world play aides, has created deeply intimate and revealing stories of imagination, to thoughtful and open creatives. Gillian lives in Los Angeles is the Director of Visual Merchandising for Synder Diamond.
