In a new AIA|LA series, Los Angeles HKS architects Neil Prunier, AIA and Manzer Mirkar, AIA will present an in-depth view of the SoFi Stadium by reviewing the concept, giving us an overview of the stadium and deep dive into The Oculus and The Shell.
In a city and region where creativity and theatrics thrive, the Los Angeles Stadium and Entertainment District at Hollywood Park create an authentic Southern California experience capable of catering to permanent residents, unique visitors and frequent guests alike. The very essence of the culture, geography and climate of this incredible region are amplified and expressed by an organization of both built and unbuilt environments. Formalized around public outdoor park space, the stadium and performance venue seamlessly integrate and present themselves as inviting extensions of the natural landscape forms and indoor/outdoor living commonly found throughout Southern California. Within the formal environments, patrons find the experience extends far beyond the entertainment surface with tailored luxury amenities and a world class food and beverage program. In addition to patrons experiencing the site and venue first hand, nearly 38 million visitors annually fly directly over the venue on their approach into LAX. This experience inspired a magnificent 5th elevation of the venue. As a global destination and top tier facility, the venue and site has earned honors to be future hosts of the LA 2028 Olympic Opening Games, NFL Super Bowls, NCAA College Football Championship, NCAA Final Four tournaments, and many other major events.
