Please join the AIA|LA Healthcare Committee for PURPOSEFUL 2022 – in-person, outdoors, and vaccinated – on Wednesday August 17th, from 4:30-7:30pm. With the long-term goal of accelerating positive changes and better outcomes in health care environments, our 4th annual interactive symposium will seek more efficient ways of broadening healthcare’s reach to all segments of the population. Our event will feature refreshments, moderated discussions, interactive group activities, and in-person networking with a diverse panel of owner and clinical experts. Together, we will collectively share and takeaway many bright ideas and help spark some new solutions to move us forward in healthcare design and delivery.

Learning Objectives:
+ Collaborate with clinicians in a group setting to analyze and evaluate project requirements, constraints, and opportunities to repurpose non-medical buildings to improve the health and welfare of our communities.
+ Identify universal design criteria for sites and buildings, such as space, light, circulation, safety and sustainability, that improve the physical, emotional, and social well-being of underserved patients with flexible and responsive healthcare environments, tailored to multiple modalities.
+ Elevate equitable healthcare access to the underserved by integrating building systems, selecting materials, and assembling prefabricated components that save time, assure quality, and reduce the cost of delivering adaptable clinical spaces that serve multiple functions.
+ Leverage technology as a shaping force and not something that is additive to the container – e.g., routine telehealth, and envision pilot programs for care provision, while enhancing safety for patients and staff, particularly during pandemic situations.
