Ric. Abramson, FAIA – Founder & Firm Principal, WORKPLAYS
In professional practice as a licensed practitioner for 28 years, Ric. Abramson, FAIA, established his small firm, Workplays studio*architecture, in 2003. A graduate of Cal Poly S.L.O. (B.Arch) and UCLA (M.Arch), Ric. studied architecture as a Fulbright scholar in Italy and as a visiting artist at the American Academy in Rome.
Ric. has taught for over 18 years on the faculty at SCI-Arc and USC School of Architecture and has produced educational workshops and seminars at National AIA Conventions in San Diego, Chicago, Atlanta, Philadelphia and Orlando, including a seminar on applying sustainable design principles in small firm practice. Ric. recently completed a four-year term representing California on the AIA National Small Firm Exchange and is currently serving as our California Regional Representative on the AIA National Strategic Council in Washington DC. and Chairing AIACA’s Housing Congress.
Ric. has been an influential advocate and recognized leader on housing issues, sustainable design, and innovative infill development solutions. In 2016, in recognition for his demonstrable leadership, Ric. Abramson was elevated into the AIA College of Fellows for his transcendent achievements in professional practice, design, education, built environment policy advocacy and community service.

The Academy for Emerging Professionals is the collective voice and source for information and support regarding the career development for Emerging Professionals in the early stages of their architectural career. Everyone pursuing a career in architecture from students to recently licensed architects of 10 years or less are members of the AEP.
