AIA LA Roundtable on CPUC NEM 3.0
This is a FREE virtual event.
Do you have ideas to share to ensure a more equitable path forward for rooftop solar and distributed energy in California?
Are you concerned the current status of the CPUC NEM 3.0 proposal?
If you’re available on Friday, February 4th (4pm), please make plans to join us for a virtual roundtable discussion about California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) proposed updates to regulations impacting Net Energy Metering (NEM 3.0) for photovoltaic installations.
REGISTER NOW
Objectives of the discussion:
The meeting is being held to understand CPUC’s NEM 3.0 proposal and how it will change/ impact current rules and regulations. We invite participants on the call to share insight and concerns and discuss the prospective benefits and detriments new NEM regulations will have for architects, clients, and most importantly the community we ultimately serve. As California advances pro-active solutions to address our ongoing climate crisis, we are in a race for our lives and those of future generations. And yet, we must ensure that sustainability programs and initiatives (such as net energy metering) are equitable, fair, and provide clear pathways for a just transition. We must come together and advocate for a clear path that will help us reach our 2030 emission reduction goals, maintain our current climate below the 1.5 Degree Celsius threshold, and yet without creating additional challenges from utility corporations. This discussion will help set the framework for how we can work together to achieve those goals.
Potential topics to explore:
+ Markets directly and indirectly impacted by the proposed NEM
+ Impacted Solar users (new vs existing costumers)
+ The pitfalls of the $8 per Kw – How can they use this tax to subsidize low income if folks will turn away from solar installation to avoid the expensive use
+ Strategies for energy storage – create presentations, case studies and advocacy
+ How can we help make use of rooftops (hundreds of thousands of miles) instead of pristine desert wilderness?
+ How does this impact our electrification advocacy efforts if it will hurt the solar market and slow electrification?
+ How can we as individuals and as members of the American Institute of Architects (COTE) help?
