Panelists, including Alicia Wachtel (CSHS), Eric Meub (HDR) and Kevin Spady (HDR), will present the project from inception through construction. The project is currently under construction and is more than 50% complete. Discussion will focus on the special challenges and opportunities throughout design and construction, with focus on elements that might not be traditional to your typical project.

Client Representative – Alicia Wachtel Osin – Executive Director of Facilities Planning Design and Construction – Cedars Sinai Health System
During this time of system transformation and geographical growth for Cedars Sinai, Alicia is responsible for the management and leadership of capital projects related to the health system’s expansion, the Medical Delivery Network growth, and the built platforms supporting care delivery transformation. Her responsibilities include hands on work with Real-Estate strategies that support the robust portfolio of new clinical space. Off-campus projects are Alicia’s responsibility including the nine story Marina del Rey Replacement Hospital. Since 1995, Wachtel has dedicated her career to Healthcare Design. Prior to joining Cedars-Sinai in 2017, Alicia Wachtel was a Principal in the Los Angeles office of HOK.
Wachtel’s professional career has been focused on the delivery of complex replacement projects and the multiple delivery methodologies associated with them.
Alicia holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and Urban Design from the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology, where she transferred from the School of Architecture, Universidad del Estado, Montevideo – Uruguay.
Project Designer – Eric Meub – Vice President, Design Principal – HDR Inc.
Eric Meub is the Director of Design for Healthcare at HDR. He is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley and the Harvard University Graduate School of Design. Eric’s recent projects include Cedars-Sinai Marina del Rey Hospital, the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula, UCSF Helen Diller Medical Center at Parnassus Heights, Intermountain Health Utah Valley Hospital, and the 900-bed Chandler Hospital Expansion at the University of Kentucky.
Project Architect – Kevin Spady – Vice President, Healthcare Principal – HDR Inc.
Kevin Spady is a Vice President and Healthcare Principal at HDR. Mr. Spady holds a Bachelors Degree in Architecture from the University of Oregon School of Architecture and Allied Arts and has been in active practice for over 45 years with a focus on healthcare project delivery in California since 1982 when he moved to Southern California with his family. His major clients have included University of Oregon, UCSD, UCLA, Huntington Health, Sharp Healthcare, City of Hope, USC, Kaiser Permanente, and Cedars Sinai Health System. He is currently leading the construction administration team for Cedar’s Marina del Rey Replacement Hospital.
