Your vision is essential! Help us shape the future of architecture and design in Los Angeles.

We’re inviting the AIA membership and the entire AEC community to share your thoughts and ideas. Your input will directly influence the strategic direction of AIA Los Angeles.

What: A virtual listening session to gather your feedback on the future of AIA|LA.

In advance of the meeting, here are a few prompts to consider:

Broad Impact Questions

  1. What are the most pressing challenges facing the architecture and design community in Los Angeles today?
  2. What do you see as the greatest opportunities for architects and designers to positively impact Los Angeles in the next three years?

Organizational Focus Questions

  1. How can AIA|LA better support the professional development and growth of its members?
  2. What role should AIA|LA play in shaping the built environment of Los Angeles?
  3. How can AIA|LA enhance its collaboration with other design and community organizations?

Public Impact Questions

  1. What are the most critical issues facing Los Angeles in terms of housing, sustainability, and equity?
  2. How can AIA|LA better communicate the value of architecture and design to the public?

Dr. Giovanna BrasfieldPublic Director, AIA|LA Board of Directors & CEO, Brasfield & Associates LLC

Giovanna Brasfield (Dr. G), CEO and Principal Consultant for Brasfield & Associates, LLC is an accomplished and award-winning diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) advocate with over 19 years of experience in focusing on leadership and DEI strategic development, training, education and outreach for the AECO industry. Dr. G drives organizations in design and construction to go beyond DEI talk by taking actionable steps to create culturally diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplaces.  Dr. G holds two doctorate degrees from the University of La Verne, a D.P.A. in Public Administration, an Ed.D. in Organizational Leadership, an MBA from the University of Phoenix, an Undergraduate degree from Mount Saint Mary’s University (MSMU), and an Executive Certified Master Compliance Administrator (ECMCA) from Morgan State University.

 

 

 

 

Ismar Enriquez, AIA, LFA, LEED APMember, AIA|LA Board of Directors & Project Manager, Practice

Ismar has been practicing for 15 years and he is currently a Senior Associate and Senior Project Architect, focusing on ending the housing crisis by creating places that foster social, equitable, and sustainable communities.

As the Chair of the 2×8 Student Scholarship and Exhibition committee in 2017, Ismar helped bring back this event that has awarded over $100,000 in scholarships. 2×8 is now the flagship event for Architecture for Communities Los Angeles, an AIA|LA sibling non-profit that was formed to communicate the value of design to all people. Ismar has led discussions in past AIA conferences and other non-profit organizations addressing the housing crisis, climate change, and equity and inclusion. He has volunteered as a mentor and participates in critiques in local schools. He has also supported the LA Mayor’s Office to fund MBE in underserved areas during the pandemic through pro-bono services. As the 2021 COTE Chair, Ismar also led issues of carbon neutrality, resiliency, climate justice, and equity. In addition to the sustainability initiatives, and is involved in government policy change and advocacy efforts across the State.
