ACLA, AIA|LA & LAUSD present….NEXT GEN ARCHITECTS: Meet & Greet

CALLING ALL ARCHITECTS!!!

Are you passionate about inspiring the next generation of architects and designers?  Are you willing to dedicate time to participate in programs & initiatives that will support students interested in pursuing careers in the AEC industry?

Please join us on Saturday, October 21 (11am) for a fun, interactive ‘meet & greet’ mixer with LAUSD teachers who are offering architecture and engineering courses to their students.

The mixer will be at Grand Arts: Ramón C. Cortines School of Visual and Performing Arts (450 N Grand Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90012)

Come and meet your partner:

The teachers of LA Unified’s Architecture/Engineering Pathways. Career Technical Engineering (CTE) pathways expose students to California’s major industries (including architecture), giving them a better understanding of the types of career paths and jobs available, while helping them develop the skills and knowledge they will need to succeed in post-secondary education and career development.

This meet & greet mixer will serve as a forum for more architects, engineers, and designers to connect with the teachers who are leading this effort to build tomorrow’s leaders in the profession.

Overall, there are two main ways for architects and architecture firms to participate in this program:

I.  As a district-wide resource: In this model, the firm/person may present the same talk or tour for several schools across the District.
II.  Enter into a direct arrangement with one specific school: In this model, the firm would enter into a relationship with a specific school and mold their offerings to the needs of that program.

From the LAUSD teachers, their requests to the architecture community include the following resources and programs:

+  Mentorships
+  Internships
+  Portfolio Review
+  Mock Interviews

What is the commitment?

We are asking that each participating architect (and their firm) commit to providing at least three of the above experiences per school year.
