Kaiser Permanente will host a site tour of the newly opened Kaiser Permanente Watts Medical Offices and Counseling and Learning Center. The new center is a unique total health opportunity whose primary goal is to bring true equity and wellness to the historically disenfranchised community of Watts.
The expansion of Kaiser Permanente’s community outreach program built on its established 50-year presence in Watts and the arrival of comprehensive medical services provide a bedrock for the community’s well-being. It also becomes a catalyst to narrow the inequality gap, specifically for South Los Angeles communities. Located in the civic core of the Watts neighborhood, the new building combines community outreach programs with medical services. It successfully merges the Counseling and Learning Center, preschool, community center, and medical offices into a single structure while framing a generous public plaza along 103rd Street.
The project results from a close partnership between the City of Los Angeles, community organizations, Kaiser Permanente, the design team led by Perkins & Will and Swinerton Builders.
