2023 AIA ANNUAL BUSINESS MEETING
CALL FOR 2023 DELEGATES

What does a Delegate do, and how do I become one?
We’ll share more details on this year’s Business Meeting and voting process as we receive them.
Please review & respond to Steve by noon PT on May 19, 2023.

We encourage all Architect and Associate members of the AIA|LA Chapter who are in good standing to cast your votes and represent Los Angeles and California, as delegates to the 2023 AIA National Business Meeting.

This year, voting will be conducted electronically. This is an excellent opportunity to make your voice heard and influence the direction of AIA for the coming year.

To participate, please:
A) Review all details at the 2023 AIA Annual Meeting website.

B) Let Steve Tanner know by May 19 that you’re eligible, interested, and available to be a delegate, so that he can request to accredit you. You can click this link to email Steve with Delegates 2023 in the subject line.

HERE IS ALL THE INFORMATION YOU MAY NEED
You can access everything you’ll need to participate in the 2023 AIA annual meeting, plus information on accreditation, regional caucuses, voting, and videos of the candidate speeches, here:
2023 AIA Annual Meeting

The AIA Annual (business) Meeting will convene on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, 10am-1pm PT, in Rooms 301-303 at Moscone West in San Francisco. Among other agenda items, at that meeting we’ll hear speeches from the candidates certified to stand for election to the national Board of Directors, updates from President Grandstaff-Rice and EVP/CEO Woods, and a financial update. Accredited delegates will be asked to approve four amendments to the AIA Bylaws, sponsored by the Board to support our members, and to streamline and improve AIA processes.

Later that afternoon, members will have an opportunity to ask questions of the candidates in a Q&A/caucus format. Check the Delegate Information Booklet on the Annual Meeting website for your state’s caucus room assignment.

Voting for the candidates is on Thursday, June 8, 9am-1pm PT.  This takes place electronically; accredited delegates will access the same platform as used in the Annual Meeting on Wednesday. This will allow them to cast their votes, wherever they are that day – attending a CE session, on a tour, etc. Results will be announced shortly thereafter. Note: If required to determine a successful candidate for the position of At-large Director, runoff voting will take place on Friday, June 9, 9am-1pm PT. Again, this will be done virtually, so delegates’ conference schedules need not be negatively impacted.

Delegates and other members are welcome to attend the Annual Meeting virtually (via Zoom) if they are unable to be in San Francisco.

We are looking forward to a fantastic A’23! Be sure to check the conference website for up-to-the-minute news on speakers and sessions, and let us know if you have any questions.
