Building Equitable Housing for All
Join the Conversation: Building an Equitable Los Angeles at the 9th Annual Design for Dignity Conference
As our region struggles with the severity of our ongoing housing and homelessness challenge, the 9th Annual Design for Dignity Conference offers a unique opportunity to be part of an inclusive process to build consensus on an equitable and effective path forward. This year’s event brings together architects, builders, policymakers, community leaders, and YOU to explore innovative ideas and practical solutions to create a more equitable Los Angeles for everyone.
We’ll discuss:
Fresh Approaches to Housing Availability: We’ll delve into the power of adaptive reuse, transforming existing buildings into affordable housing, while revitalizing neighborhoods. We’ll also explore acquiring existing buildings and discuss how to leverage recently proposed legislation like AB 3068 (Haney), AB 2909 (Santiago), and AB 2910 (Santiago) to expand housing options.
Funding the Future: Unlocking new funding streams is critical. We’ll discuss upcoming initiatives like the California Housing Bond Measure and the Affordable Housing, Homelessness Solutions and Prevention Now Measure. We’ll also explore the LA4LA initiative and other public-private partnerships to bridge the gap.
Streamlining Processes: Let’s break down barriers. We’ll examine policies like the Affordable Housing Streamlining Ordinance to ensure efficient permitting and explore ways to make the Citywide Housing Incentive Program more effective. We’ll also learn more about recent 2023/2024 California housing legislation
Building for Families: Regulatory reforms and prefabrication construction will be explored, focusing on creating family-friendly housing and supporting the workforce needed for innovative solutions.
Long-Term Affordability: How can we ensure housing remains affordable and helps families build wealth? We’ll discuss social housing options and increasing homeownership for communities of color.
The Policy Landscape: Stay informed. We’ll debate the impacts and benefits of Measure ULA, Inclusionary Zoning, and Mayor Bass’ Executive Directive #1. We’ll also discuss the prospective effects of the City of Grants Pass v. Johnson Supreme Court decision.
This is more than a conference, it’s a call to action. Join us as we explore solutions, identify specific recommendations, and create a roadmap for a more equitable Los Angeles.
Together, we can turn innovative ideas into positive outcomes.
